DEI Training

learning & unlearning opportunities await

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) workshops are formative spaces to confront bias, learn about the lived experiences of others, and discover new ways of working with others that are rooted in care, dignity, respect, and justice.

DEI workshops have been developed and refined over time, to support collective learning, skill-building, and group discussion. Offered either virtually or in-person, sessions run between 3 and 4 hours.

Together, we explore a variety of themes and topics to build skill, awareness, understanding, and collective reflection.

Available workshop offerings:

  • This session offers an introductory understanding of the ways that white supremacy culture functions across in our day-to-day lives. Participants will learn about ways that we can take action to disrupt white supremacy culture within professional and personal relationships, at work and beyond.

  • This session provides decision-makers and those who hold positional power. Drawing on the work of folks over at DRWorks, this workshop gives participants an opportunity to explore how to divest from common tactics, tools and practices that are rooted in white supremacy culture which perpetuate dysfunction and harm within our organizations, particularly against communities that are made marginalized. Together, we explore topics related to organizational governance, reputation, finance and human resources through an intersectional, power-conscious and socially just lens. This is an introductory-level workshop primarily designed for decision-makers, including leadership, management, leads, etc.

  • In this session, participants will explore how power impacts team dynamics, team functioning and collaboration. Together, we will consider and explore the ways that power intersects with communication, and how we can use our power to empower others. We’ll define power, locate where it comes from and how power affects us and others. This is an intermediate-level workshop best suited for individuals who have participated in Unpacking White Supremacy.

  • This workshop is intended to support teams and groups in skilling-up for difficult conversations, conflict, and harm. Together, we’ll cultivate more life-affirming ways of addressing harm. Drawing on the lessons and teachings offered by transformative justice approaches, participants will be challenged to integrate anti-oppressive values into practice. This is an intermediate-level workshop best suited for individuals who have participated in ‘Unpacking White Supremacy’ and/or ‘Power is Everywhere’.

  • ‘Lived experience’ is an emerging term that often denotes the wisdom, expertise, and knowledge of individuals who have first-hand involvement navigating systems, institutions, and events—particularly those from equity-seeking communities. More and more, holders of lived experience are highly sought-after and are often referenced in diversity and inclusion hiring statements. This workshop will support hiring committees, Human Resources professionals, recruitment and retention professionals in developing meaningful understandings of what lived experience is, its value and role in our professional spaces, the needs of those with lived experience, and how organizations can ensure lived experience holders thrive in our work places.

  • In the grand scheme of major initiatives like diversity, equity and inclusion, many lose sight of the personal commitments, efforts, and ingredients that sustain collective change, create new possibilities, and establishes the inclusive, caring cultures we crave in our organizations. This workshop offers a space for individuals to develop, hone, and implement their own anti-oppressive practice. Through the exploration of themes like humility, reflection, vigilance, and nuance, you learn to establish the foundations of collective change--starting with yourself.
